Scripture
says that true religion is ministering to widows and orphans
in their time of need. Ministry of Hope is putting
that call of faith into action, and there are a number of ways
you can help.
Donations
One
of the best ways you can help is through donations that
provide for the orphans needs on a monthly basis. Please help us meet the most urgent needs by allowing us to use your gift “Where needed most."
Ministry of Hope is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax deductible.
You can make
a credit card donation through a secure server by clicking on
the button below. The process is easy, secure, and allows you
to designate your gift for any of the special projects below.
If
you prefer not to give via an online transaction you can contact
our Executive Director, Rex Hoffman, at rhoffman@ministryofhope.org or
mail your contribution to:

Ministry
of Hope's most significant expenses are the recurring monthly cost
of running the Crisis Nursery, the feeding centers and the educational
scholarship programs. The majority of funds in the ministry's budget
go directly to aid Malawian orphans and administrative costs are
kept to a minimum, less than 5 percent of the total budget.
All
of the work for promoting and sponsoring Ministry of Hope in
the U.S. is carried out by volunteers. There are no administrative
offices for the ministry in the U.S.
In
2007 ministry expenditures totaled $680,000 in Malawi and $29,000
in the U.S. These costs were covered by individuals, churches
and corporate gifts.
Volunteering
One
of the most
meaningful ways you or your church can connect with
the
children
of Ministry
of
Hope
is
to
participate
in our
Volunteer Program.
The ministry welcomes short-term mission trips from individuals
and groups from abroad to come alongside the children and conduct
Vacation
Bible Schools, play games and do crafts. A stay of 10-14 days allows a group time to get to know the children and make visits to several village feeding centers. For individuals, we recommend a minimum 2-week stay to become integrated into village life and have a meaningful experience.

Summer is a great time to volunteer with Ministry of Hope in Malawi, and we welcome and appreciate all those who wish to serve the ministry in this way. However, in order to adequately prepare for your trip, we need to have plenty of time to process your application.
Funding opportunities
$2,500
- Monthly sponsorship of a feeding center
The monthly cost covers a director's salary, the purchase of food, supplies and
transportation. This is one of the largest items in the ministry's annual budget.
$30
monthly
- Educational scholarship
There is no free education in Malawi past the 8th grade and orphans usually have
no means to pay for an education beyond this point. Donations to the scholarship
fund cover all the costs of tuition and books and give orphans a chance at a
better future.
Crisis
Nursery Operation
The two nurseries care for an average of 45 babies per month. Donations cover
the costs of baby formula, diapers and staff salaries.
$5,000 - Grain Bank
Currently,
grain is stored in "cribs" that are exposed to the elements. A
grain bank would create a dry storage space for the maize crop and ensure
there are
supplies to feed the orphans when there is no food.

Volunteers from a U.S. church group lead
singing.

Villagers
often walk for miles, carrying heavy loads, to get their maize
ground at a mill.

One MoH program helps villages raise chickens and goats to supplement the diet at the feeding centers.

Feeding
centers provide a place for cooking, eating, Bible study and other
activities.
